About CIPN

Intellectual property rights have been a field of interest for everyone living in the world of modern edge of knowledge, art and technology based society. The knowledge of these rights unveils the secret of socio-economic development through promotion of art, trade and business, and enhancement of science and technology. Nepal is endowed with a diverse and rich cultural, artistic and natural heritage and has the unique distinction of being a reservoir of the treasure of traditional knowledge and being a one of the prospective nation of economic development in the century with specific reference to its bio-genetic resources and being trade-bridge between the giant nations of the South Asia. It is in relation to this reality that a real need is felt for the development of modern intellectual property jurisprudence in order to recognize and protect the intellectual property rights of the stakeholders in Nepal. This overwhelming expediency notwithstanding, there remains an acute dearth of credible institutions in Nepal to support stakeholders in matters relating to Intellectual Property Rights. It is specifically in response to this vacuum that the Centre for Intellectual Property Nepal Pvt. Ltd. (CIPN) has been established on an individual initiative on 25 March, 2005 which has thus far, accentuated its efforts towards bringing awareness of the critical signification of Intellectual Property and rights to the increasingly knowledge based society. CIPN established with the objective of bridging the gap between the stakeholder and issue of intellectual property rights over their creation, has been conducting manifolds of activities in interdisciplinary ways for the sake of concretizing its fundamental activities that entails Research, Advocacy and Service concerning the matters of intellectual property rights. 

CIPN is founded in response to an increasing need felt by authors, artisans, performers, scientists, technologists, business personalities, companies and lawyers as well as other civil societies in order to gain a profound knowledge and create an appropriate endeavor in the field of intellectual property. It has been established with the aim of fulfilling the gap of necessity of such an institution, which is competent to function in multiple dimensions of intellectual property rights. CIPN is the first firm of its kind in Nepal. It organizes a manifold of activities on an interdisciplinary level for the sake of concretizing its object and goal. Fundamental activities of CIPN are research and study, advocacy and awareness program including training program in the field of intellectual property rights and service to the individual or institution and other firms within the territory and also the extra territory.
